IDDBA seeks competitors for 18th Annual Cake Decorating Challenge

Advertisement The International Dairy-Deli-Bake Association (IDDBA) is seeking competitors for the 18th Annual Cake Decorating Challenge, which will take place during the annual Dairy-Deli-Bake Expo June 2-4, 2013, in Orlando, Fla. Three store-level decorators will compete by creating displays that promote their creative, technical and time management skills. The challenge begins with creating enough production cakes to fill an 8-in. bakery case on day one. Day two is devoted to the creation of a custom-design wedding cake. On the last day, each contestant will decorate three cakes of their choice, one from each category: special occasion, theme/event and decorator's choice. The contestants will compete for first-, second- and third-place trophies. Last year's champion was Andria Chinander, Lund Food Holdings (Byerly's), Edina, Minn. To enter, cake decorators must submit an entry form along with a photo album of the best cakes they've decorated. Supermarket chains may enter as many cake decorators as they choose.
