Fairway Market offers election cupcakes

Advertisement With Election Day just two weeks away, Fairway Market is holding a presidential election of its own with limited-edition, Republican vs. Democrat cupcakes, according to an article from supermarketnews.com. Both versions of the cupcakes have a vanilla cake base. The Republican cupcake features red icing with a red, white and blue elephant; the Democrat cupcake has blue icing with a red, white and blue donkey. The cupcakes are available for $1.49 each at all 11 tri-state-area locations through Nov. 5. The chain will then tally and announce how many of each were sold. "With all the bitterness emanating from the campaign, Fairway Market is eager to put some sweetness in the battle for the White House," Herb Ruetsch, chief executive officer of Fairway Market, said in a statement.
