Dole Recalls Bagged Salad in 10 States for Listeria Risk

By News Desk | October 17, 2012 A bagged salad product sold under the Dole American Blend brand is being recalled by Dole Fresh Vegetables after it tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes. No illnesses have yet been associated with the recalled product, which is sold in 12 oz. bags coded A275208A or B, with a use-by date of October 17 and UPC 7143000933. Dole distributed the recalled bagged salad in Illinois, Indiana, Maine, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Wisconsin. The Tennessee Department of Agriculture discovered the problem when a sample taken during random sampling tested positive for the bacteria. Dole Fresh Vegetables customer service representatives are contacting retailers and are in the process of confirming that the recalled product is being removed from the stream of commerce. Listeria monocytogenes is an organism that can cause serious illness in a person who ingests it.  Symptoms of infection may include fever, muscle aches and gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea or diarrhea. The illness primarily impacts pregnant women, the elderly and adults with weakened immune systems.
