An Iowa-based company is recalling 90,975 pounds of sausage because the product may have been undercooked during processing. Pinnacle Foods Group, LLC of Fort Madison, IA issued a recall of its bourbon barbecue sausages Tuesday after the company discovered that the meat products were not cooked thoroughly. The problem is thought to have arisen from a miscalculation in processing time. Product subject to this recall was sold in 5 oz. cans marked "Armour Vienna Sausage Bourbon BBQ Flavored." They were shipped to retailers in cases of 24. So far, the only known retailer to have purchased the sausage product was Walmart, which sold it in stores nationwide, according to the retail list provided by USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service. Each can bears establishment number P-4247, which can be found inside the USDA mark of inspection, and a UPC of 541000 93824. The meat was produced on September 7, 2012, and cans are marked with a use-by date of September 7, 2015. Neither the company nor FSIS have received any reports of negative health consequences related to eating the recalled product. © Food Safety NewsMore Headlines from Food Recalls |
