Corner Bakery Café has signed a franchise agreement to open its first restaurants in Nassau County on Long Island, N.Y., beginning in 2013. Four M Bakery LLC, a group of restaurant operators, plans to open seven Corner Bakery locations throughout Nassau County.

"Corner Bakery Cafe is an ideal brand for growth in this segment of the fast casual industry and we're excited about the opportunity to bring it to Long Island," James Bitzonis, president of Four M Bakery LLC, said in a statement. "Nassau County has strong neighborhood appeal and we're confident that everything from the locally-inspired décor to the freshly-prepared menu will make our cafes a welcome addition in Long Island."

The chain currently is reviewing sites for its first Nassau locations. This marks the seventh new development agreement, totaling 88 new restaurants that Corner Bakery has awarded this year. In all, 23 agreements have been signed representing more than 286 new restaurants. Corner Bakery plans to double its footprint in the U.S. over the next four years through franchise and company-owned cafes.
