Departures names world’s top 10 bakeries

Advertisement Departures, the American Express travel magazine, has unveiled the top 10 bakeries in the world, and six of them are located in the United States. Vegan Treats, Bethlehem, Pa., was the only vegan bakery to make the list, which also includes: Tartine Bakery, San Francisco; Mindy's HotChocolate, Chicago; Demel, Vienna, Austria; Sullivan Street Bakery, New York; Patisserie Sadaharu Aoki, Tokyo; Ken's Artisan Bakery, Portland, Ore.; Poilane, Paris; Salty Tart Bakery, Minneapolis; and Flour Bakery + Café, Boston. Ken's Artisan Bakery received Modern Baking's 2012 Leadership Award for Quality in July. "No matter how good something is, there are always ways to improve. It's about engaging with the product.
